Elliott R. McDonald, Jr. graduated from the University of Iowa Law School in 1952, passed the Iowa and Illinois bar exams and reported for duty in the U.S. Air Force. He was assigned to JAG, involved in prosecuting and defending courts martial. Two years later he returned to Iowa to join his father's law firm. He has now been in private practice for 50 years.
His experience as a member and past chair of the Iowa State Board of Law Examiners and in grading bar exams for 39 years has made him knowledgeable in many fields of law and has enlarged his legal acquaintances throughout the state.
